Under 9 Yellow vs Brighton Beach (R2)

26 April 2018 by HRJ

This week’s game against Brighton Beach followed a very similar pattern to the first round.

The boys ran hard and manned up a lot better in defence and around the middle this week.

In the first quarter Lachlan Curtis got the team going with a nice snap after collecting the ball from a great ruck tap by Luke Kollmorgen.

The second saw James Jebb moving well around the middle and driving the ball forward. Josh Kordupel who was set the challenge at full forward followed the instructions really well and took 2 marks for 2 goals in the second quarter. The third quarter was tight with Brighton Beach taking the points and holding us scoreless. A very tight first three quarters saw the scores level at three quarter time.

In the last we again came home strong with Luke Kollmorgen setting the game alight kicking 3 goals. Adrian Gonzales and Josh Kordupel were important players getting the ball out of the middle and kicking it to the half forward line where Liam Farr and Lachlan Curtis found the ball around the forward flanks and sending it towards goal score.

A highlight of the dominant last quarter was a link up play of 6 handballs in a row from the wing to the forward 50 which was great to see the boys all helping each other and controlling the ball as we have been training for.

Overall another solid performance and great to have our first game at Castlefield this season.
