Under 9 Yellow vs Murrumbeena (R12)

23 July 2018 by HRJ

Round 12 was played at Rovers against Murrumbeena. 16 this week and thanks to the opposition providing 1 player so we were only 1 short.

Pre match discussion was all about the boys lifting intensity after our first loss for the season last week. With Adrian, Stricko and Shae back this week you could tell the boys had a lift and were ready to go.

Luke Kollmorgen was on fire in the first quarter making great use of Harry Haines ruck work in the middle to drive the ball forward continuously. Josh Boudiab took full advantedge and scored 2 goals and James Jebb 1 goal.

The second quarter were kicking against the wind and found Murrumbeena lifted. It was tight football with no goals scored for the quarter. Adrian showed us his silky skills in the middle looking for targets and Hewie played the mid outside role very well to repel attacks and guide the ball forward. The defence held strong with Lachlan and Liam teaming well in defence.

The 3rd quarter was again tight with Murrumbeena continuing to challenge the boys. Only 1 goal scored with captain Archie Dowling grabbing the hard ball and kicking a nice goal.

Final quarter we asked the boys to go harder against the wind and they again responded with 3 classy goals. Liam Farr kicked a great goal from the boundary and then snapped another from the goal square a few minutes later. Ben Mortgomery also kicked a nice snap and had a big last quarter.

In the end a strong performance playing 1 short and a lot more running and carry and kicking to targets. Looking forward to the last game of the season next week.
