Volunteer Week

27 May 2024 by Rohan Bardwell

Thank You to All Our Volunteers

Hello Hampton Rovers Junior Families and Players,

Hard to believe we are almost at the halfway mark of the season – Round 7. This week is National Volunteer Week 20 – 26 May. As most of you know it takes at least 10 volunteers from each team, 20 in total to get a junior football match underway on any given Sunday.

Whether it be Coaches, trainers, team managers, Umpires Escorts, Runners, Timer Keepers the list goes on. Our kids wouldn’t be able to play this great game without the mum’s and dad’s help on the weekend. A massive thank you to all the parents who volunteer on the weekends, we couldn’t do it without you!!!!

I would also like to give a shout out to our committee & subcommittee members who give up time to ensure the season gets underway and runs smoothly. A massive thank you to you.

Big shout out to our interleague representatives in the U14 & U15 girls and boys teams who received their interleague jumpers at a special presentation last Sunday evening. Special mention goes to Toby Clarkson U15B and Angus Occhiuto U14B who were named Vice Captains of their respective interleague teams, – Well Done Boys.

Sadly, in March this year, Hayley Fyfield, of Bakers Delight Hampton lost her battle to breast cancer. Hayley and her husband Paul have been massive supporters of our football club over many years. In her honour and in solidarity with all those affected by breast cancer, the Bakers Delight Hampton Team are gearing up to ‘Ride for Hayley’ – a virtual fundraising bicycle journey from Robina, Queensland to Hampton, Victoria and back. Hampton Rovers members can support this fundraiser by purchasing raffle tickets this Sunday at Castlefield or Make Donations at https://bcna.grassrootz.com/bcna-pink-bun-parties-2024/ride-for-hayley. Please dig deep and give to this cause, as a football club we rely heavily on in-kind sponsors and the generosity of people such as Hayley and Paul.

Lastly, The AFL wouldn’t bring back state v state interstate games, but we have, with a massive state v state U15G girls game on Friday 31st at Boss James Reserve.

The Wembley Downs WA Perth Girls team are visiting Victoria next weekend for an AFL filled weekend and have reached out for a friendly game against our U15G, Friday night under lights at Boss James. See below for details, but make sure you get down to support all the girls from both clubs.

On that note have a great weekend and see you around the grounds on Sunday.

Fundraiser Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) Fundraiser ‘Ride for Hayley’

The Bakers Delight Hampton store owned by Hayley and Paul have been wonderful supporters of
our Rovers football club over many years. Sadly, in March this year, Hayley Fyfield, lost her battle to
breast cancer. In her honour and in solidarity with all those affected by breast cancer, the Bakers
Delight Hampton Team are gearing up to ‘Ride for Hayley’ – a virtual fundraising bicycle journey
from Robina, Queensland to Hampton, Victoria and back.

If you would like to support this wonderful initiative, you can purchase Raffle Tickets for BCNA
fundraiser in memory of Hayley Fyfield. The tickets will be available at Castlefield Reserve this
Sunday for junior home games. Donations can also be made https://bcna.grassrootz.com/bcna-pink-bun-parties-2024/ride-for-hayley. Hayley and Paul have been wonderful supporters of our
club over many years, and I encourage members to get behind this wonderful cause.
