Welcome back everyone! Following a 3-week break, we are ready to get into the second half of the season.
With only six rounds to go until the Lightning Cup Festivals for our younger age groups, and finals for the older age groups, we have just six weekends left to finish the year of with passion.
In this edition, you’ll get a sneak peak of the Boss James Redevelopment. Renovations started before the footy season, and from what we’ve seen, things are on track for us to be able to enjoy the new clubhouse for the 2025 season.
We also had some super excited U11s a few weeks back when four Collingwood players came to take training for the night. One of the players is Hampton Juniors alumni. Read on. Finally, a thank you to everyone who donated to Team Sports 4 All (TS4A) during registration at the start of the season. TS4A are the Hampton Rovers Juniors charity long-term partner, and this year they are now the SMJFL’s charity partner.
Thanks to your generosity, more than $800 was raised for kids needing financial assistance to play community sport. I’m looking forward to seeing you around the grounds this Sunday.

Boss James Looking Good
Last week some of the HRJ Committee got a sneak peak of the Boss James redevelopment. And boy, is it looking good! Boss James is the spiritual homes for both the Hampton Rovers and the Hampton Cricket Club. The redevelopment, led by the Bayside City Council, is bringing to life our ambition to have a great home for our community-based club.
We are pleased to report that the redevelopment is coming along at a great pace and the clubrooms are looking fantastic so far. We are hoping that the Boss James Clubhouse will be completed by late October 2024. While it is too late for us to enjoy for this year’s footy season, we are pleased that our friends at the Hampton Cricket Club will be able to enjoy it for their season – especially as the redevelopment started at the start of the cricket season last year. Here are some of the photos from our tour. While it doesn’t do it justice, we hope it’s enough to get you excited about the return of Boss James in the near future!
Collingwood comes to town
Four Collingwood superstars were singing a different theme song last week when they came to lead our HRJ U11 Mixed Squad for their Tuesday night training.
Former Hampton Rovers Junior player, Brayden Maynard, together with Darcy Cameron, Jeremy Howe and Jamie Elliott led our U11s in their training and drills. After the session, the boys gave even more of their time and answered all the important questions from our young players. What an awesome night!
A massive thanks to our U11 White Coach, Scott Cornish, who coordinated and led the session, as well as to AFL Victoria and the Collingwood Football Club for organising such a fantastic initiative.
