Well played lads. Great fight back in the 3rd quarter to put yourselves within striking distance at the final change. While it wasn’t the fairy tale end to the season to have a win, so much more has been achieved by each and every one of you this season, that you can hold your heads up high and be proud “YOU ACHIEVED YOUR PERSONAL BEST!”.
Awards & Recognition for the game:
Marcus – another great Captain’s game for four quarters, led from the front, use plenty of voice and intently “stayed in the game”…played an amazing cameo in the ruck and literally changed the rucking contests by becoming a midfielder at the drop of the ball and winning clearances off your own boot
Coops – Mr Determination — forever at the bottom of the packs, hunting and winning his own ball, never took a backwards step
Tom McKinley – another great game, poise personified, attacked the contest, marked strongly and used the ball exceptionally well
Charlie Officer – perhaps our most intuitive footballer, always threatened to score from any stoppage or contest within the 40M arc, and popped up with 3 sausage rolls
Liam O’Driscoll – through repetitive hard running up and down the lines, created exit options from CHF and competed in the air and on the ground, taking marks and using the ball well by foot, and snagged a sausage roll
Other special mentions:
Most courageous and spine tingling moment: Sam Wilson running back with the flight of the ball into heavy oncoming traffic, never took eyes off the footy and marked solidly stopping a likely mark/goal by the opposition…seriously we winced as it all unfolded.
Matt Field – dogged “I’ll show you” to bring the game alive and create scoring drive in 2nd/3rd quarters.
Silky goal on the run by Flocks running the line screaming for a handball receive and goal…scintillating stuff.
Well done to all, another match where you all DID something and made a contribution throughout parts of the game.
Thanks to all the parents for helping make the games run smoothly and to Jeff for stepping up as team manager working some magic behind the scenes.
And to one of the truly ripper blokes, Paul Warman, it doesn’t get any better to stand each week alongside you in the coaches box mate…you’re an out and out Champion.
