THAT’S (ALMOST) ALL FOLKS!
And just like that the final ‘final’ round (see what I did there?) for 2019 is upon us. I had the absolute pleasure of seeing all three of our finalists play in their respective grand finals on Sunday. I was super proud of every team and all the parents involved with the way we went about our footy.
The day started with our U11s who were slow out of the gates but came home very strong to win the flag! The very nervous parents and relatives turned into super proud adults seeing all the hard work pay off for the kids. Well done team!!!
I then moved on to watch the U12 girls in their Grand Final. Our girls never gave up but were up against a very good side. Unfortunately the result didn’t go our way, but our girls can be very proud of all they have achieved!
With one more to go, I moved onto the U12 boys D1 Grand Final that promised to be a tough game. Our boys were the underdogs for the game against the minor premiers. It was a hard fought match but we simply couldn’t match Ajax across all four quarters. Well done team for giving it your all! I know you will learn a lot and come back for a big 2020.
This week we have one more Rovers team in the Grand Final. The U14 D5 team are our last 2019 hope for a flag. Christian Carnivale (our Senior Captain), or now more formally known as ‘Our U14 D5 Coach’, and Zac have the team up and about ahead of the this week’s match. The game holds extra special meaning for me with my son Josh playing. Good luck boys on Sunday.
I would also like to give shout out to our five Rovers girls playing in the Sandy U16 D1 final on Sunday too. Good luck to our girls in that match too (including Gabi my daughter).
Finally – we are hosting Grand Finals at Boss James this Sunday. We have three Grand Final matches and two intra-league games. Please come down and enjoy some great football. We’ll have our canteen open and the BBQ running – just another way to support the club.
I look forward to seeing the final round of 2019 this weekend. Passion, Teamwork, Fun, and Respect.
