This round was Community Round for the SMJFL. Nothing made me prouder of our community and the way we support our families and kids than seeing the banner made for young Mitch Nolan on the weekend. Mitch was unlucky to break his leg in round 11 in two places. I have had messages from the opposition club parents, the opposition president and coaching teams, and of course a broad range of concerned people at Rovers. The Nolan family have had offers of hot dinners, babysitting and all ranges of support which makes me proud to be a Rover and a Bayside community member!! The icing on the cake was the banner made for the U11s to run through in round 12. It simply stated – “This one’s for you Mitch” – it still gives me a big smile every time I see the photo. Congrats to all involved #respect, #teamwork, #passion. From all at Hampton Rovers – here’s wishing Mitch a quick recovery.
It goes without saying that we rely heavily on the generous support of many businesses in the community to help fund our club year in year out. It is poignant that in Community Round that I thank again on behalf of all of our kids and families those that sponsor our club including our major sponsors in Buxton, Bendigo Bank Sandringham, Brighton Mazda, Sportsmart and Skybus. To all those businesses that support our game day awards (Picasso, Brown Cow, Brumby’s, Cold Rock Hampton) there is nothing like the smile on our kids’ faces when they get a special mention and reward. We’re also supported by Stewart Insurance, Plumbco, Gathercoles, Carter Grange, Hampton Fruit Centre, Healthscope, McKimm and George’s Ski Hire. Please can I ask you support those that support Rovers. Lastly in my community announcements I would like to thank Lisa Beavan from LMB Web Design – for providing Rovers Juniors with the best website in the league and a social media profile that is the envy of every club.
As for the football this weekend it was a weekend of mixed results and mixed weather. With the finals soon upon us I wish all teams luck in the final weeks. Our younger age groups head into the lighting carnivals shortly and our older ages have a handful of rounds left. Good luck, have fun and see you all on the weekend.
Please remember to put our next (and last) At Home With The Rovers in your diary for Sunday the 6th of August!! It promises to be a great day and will celebrate the final round for our younger kids for 2017. Please can you all make an effort to attend and in turn make it special for the youngest ones.
Regards
Jason
