Football weather greeted us for the start of round two with wind and rain. There was no dampening the enthusiasm of our Rovers kids though, with some awesome football and sportsmanship on show throughout the day.
By the seaside
Our younger age groups are learning the Rovers song and helping teach their parents too. It was also great to see a number of teams across our age groups contributing photos of game day. Please send any photos (taken from iPhones are perfect, though we do love our ‘professional’ photographers just as much) to your team manager so that we can share them on our website, Instagram and Facebook. The kids love seeing this during the week. In fact, the amount of traffic on each of our channels was at a high last week.
Grading rounds
We are now halfway through the grading rounds for the league before we get to a stable draw for the year. It is clear that some teams are stronger than others and the grading rounds will help the league find the right home for all of our teams. Please be patient as this plays out.
Coach and Game Day Officials qualifications
For all of our coaches and game day officials, we are also two weeks through the update period for all qualifications. Child safety is always a priority, so please ensure your qualifications are up to date and logged in the appropriate place. We have two weeks left to be 100% compliant as a club to avoid fines. Thanks in advance for your help with this important action.
At Home With The Rovers
Sunday we had our first At Home With The Rovers event. It was great to see some familiar and new faces on the night. It was a modest event by Rovers standards and I thank those that made the effort to attend. As a club we rely on the fundraising events we do during the year so please make an effort to attend. We run only four AHWTR events each year and one major celebration evening. I look forward to more of you joining us next event. We also always welcome feedback and assistance with our events, so please reach out to us.
Mother’s Day on Sunday
Finally – ahead of Mothers Day on Sunday. I would like to get in early and wish all of our Mothers a very happy Mothers Day for Sunday. Hopefully all of our Mums can help sing the Rovers song on the weekend in celebration. I hope all of our kids spoil their Mum’s and take the time to thank them for all they do in our lives. If you are celebrating at a Rovers game on Sunday, please remember that our games are alcohol free – so no bubbles at our grounds thanks. Keep it chilling in the fridge and bring a celebratory hot chocolate instead. 😉
I hope to see many of you this weekend.
