Hampton Rovers’ U17 player Tom Marron won the SMJFL league best & fairest at the awards night held in mid September.
Tom played 15 games in season 2016, kicking 12 goals. Invited to the awards night as a placegetter, Tom thought he could achieve second or third, but given he missed a few games, didn’t think he would take out first place.
It was the second-last award of the evening and the boys were called up to the stage, including Tom. Felicity Frederico was presenting the awards and it was announced there were four runners-up – those names were read out, but when Tom’s name wasn’t, it became apparent he has taken out first place!
Proud parents Steve and Miranda were in attendance and obviously thrilled for Tom being named the best & fairest in SMJFL Under 17 Division Two.
Tom loves his footy and has really enjoyed this year, his final year as a junior at Hampton Rovers. What a way to finish off his nine years in the junior section of the club. He now looks to the future and playing U19’s next year at the club.
The club congratulates Tom on this great achievement!
